Located on the historic Pearl Street Mall in the heart of downtown Boulder, The family gathering space is a popular destination for visitors and locals. The original design fell into disrepair and in need of compliance with current accessibility regulations. R Design worked with the City of Boulder to re-design the space with durable modern materials while preserving the original form. A brick planter was designed and delicately constructed to preserve two rare Redwood trees and ipe decking was detailed for entry steps and columns. The renovation of the space once completed is visited by thousands annually and continues to act as a family attraction for the mall.
