303 Canyon
A catalytic project for the community of Boulder, this multi-family project was completed as a by-right example showing a dense solution to what had been a single-family lot. Three unique residential structures were placed above below grade parking and each residence had it’s own private garden as well as a shared courtyard and streetscape. R Design refined all of the grading and layout, which assisted the City planners in approving the project. The courtyards were lushly planted with xeric, urban plants which privatize the gardens while framing the stunning views to the Flatirons. Retaining walls and steel planters navigate the grade change from the sidewalk to the podium level above the parking garage and hedgerows of juniper further define the outdoor rooms. The high-quality and density of this design received acclaim from numerous publications for it’s progressive solution.
