Bethel Cross

Perched on a hillside overlooking picturesque horse pastures, the house and outdoors spaces are arranged to take in the pastoral views of the distant landscape. A long gravel driveway leads to a granite cobblestone entry courtyard. Stone walls, monolithic stone steps and patios define the spaces, create terraces and provide easy flow through the landscape. A vegetable garden and apple orchard are placed with views and access from the kitchen. The swimming pool is elevated above the pastures overlooking the western hills. Polo horses are often seen galloping across the tops of the meadows when looking west from the house porches, patios and pool area. Terraced stone steps gently connects the house to the lower pool space and to the hillside above. Trees, flowering shrubs, perennials and grasses soften the spaces and visually connect to the distant landscape. Long stone slab steps run the length of the covered porch which leads to a play lawn area for the family.
