Meadow Brook Farm
This former dairy farm and 1750’s colonial house were reimagined for modern day living while preserving the heritage of the property and the architecture. Majestic sugar maple and black locust trees frame the views from the original farmhouse across the rolling fields, apple orchard and ponds. New stone terraces mixed with brick create various outdoor gathering rooms around the house. The brick was mixed into the outdoor spaces which carries the colonial feel of the house into the landscape. Fieldstone walls were placed to elevate a grassy seating area on south side of the house under the large preserved shade trees. A perfect place to take in the meadow views and light breezes on a Summer’s day. Flowering shrubs and perennials are placed along the picture glass windows which becomes a pollinator garden that can be viewed from inside of the house. The covered porches lead to a central stone terrace which is flanked by four canopy trees which provide shade to the seating area. Low plant masses of greens, whites and lavender colors frame the seating space. A built in koi fish water feature is placed at the end of the patio which becomes a focal point and provides the cascading sound of water. Large stone slab steps form grass terraces that lead from the outdoor terraces down to the pool area. A custom designed shade pergola with a herringbone brick floor is placed to create an intimate dining experience with views out to the garden and fields in the distance.
