An urban corner lot with views toward the western mountains and across Denver’s Sloan’s Lake was the setting for this modern residential collaboration. Resolving significant grade change across the site, the design incorporates a series of brick walls which create a plinth for the modern structure. Outdoor rooms for dining and lounging are set within plantings that double as rain gardens which distribute the stormwater through a system of connected gardens which slow the infiltration due to the site’s high water table. R Design detailed and specified custom decking, a sculptural horizontal slatted fence and modern fire pit which frame the outdoor gathering on the main level. Built-in furniture, planters and a spa provide an elevated rooftop view of the mountains.
