Sunnyside
The rural charm of this historic house and property with its rolling fields, majestic trees and forest edges captures the views in all directions. A stone terrace becomes the focal point to the back of the house connecting to the great lawn and meadows in the distance. Low fieldstone walls, slab steps and perennial flower beds form the boundary to this outdoor space. The perennials are a mix of purples, whites and yellows to visually tie into the rolling wildflower meadows. Stone pavers are designed to create a formal terrace near the house large enough for flexible gathering events. A reclaimed granite millstone becomes a tactile and visual feature off of the back door and step providing a connection to the history of the house and farm. The large irregular stone pavers lead from the central terrace and become less formal flowing through a lavender and boxwood garden, through the grassy lawns and connect to the side rooms of the house. An outdoor kitchen and cooking patio garden space is placed off the back porch seating area and leads up to the elevated pool terrace.
