Buffalo Creekside
Set amongst pristine national forest land adjacent to the “Castle” rock formation and along an interconnected system of destination mountain bike trails site the Buffalo Creekside site. The owners came to the design team with a vision to create a modern mountain bike and recreational destination for eco-tourism and seasonal activities. R Design collaborated closely with A 21 to study the land and propose gently placing modern structures amongst the pine trees and meadows that would allow for the convenience of a luxury cabin while preserving the existing terrain and vegetation on the site.
Existing wetlands were preserved and the materiality for the structures and landscape features were chosen to respond to the colors, textures and forms found on the site and surrounding areas. Creek access, trails for both hiking and mountain biking, gathering spaces and an update to the existing residence for the landowners was designed and carried through the Jefferson County planning process. The project is currently under construction.
